Gemma Arterton and Jeremy Renner Star in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

Gemma Arterton will play Jeremy Renner's sister in Paramount Pictures' Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters to be directed by Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow). The Hollywood Reporter reports Arterton, seen in 2010's Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia and Tamara Drewe, beat out a field that included Noomi Rapace (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Eva Green (Casino Royale) for the lead role in the fairytale drama.

This Hansel and Gretel story is going to be quite different than the familiar Brothers Grimm fairytale. Witch Hunters takes place years after the siblings escaped from the witch by shoving her in an oven. Now all grown up, the two have become witch hunters - which you probably guessed from the film's title.

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions is producing the movie, with filming likely to get squeezed in between the end of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and the start of The Avengers in order to accommodate Renner's busy schedule.
